"But we are buying presents for Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle Matt and
Aunt Stephanie, and Mrs. Lewis. Why aren't we buying presents for
Jesus?"
Miriam's mom stopped and looked up from her
paper. "That's a really good question, Miriam. You know, on the first
Christmas, the wise men brought gifts to baby Jesus. They gave him gold,
frankincense, and myrrh."
Miriam remembered the nativity set they had at home and the three little figures holding their gifts. "Did Jesus like those presents?" Miriam asked, wonderingly.
"Yes, I guess he did," her mom answered, smiling.
"Maybe we can give Jesus some gold, frankincense, and myrrh too!" Miriam said with a twinkle of delight in her eyes.
"Well...um...I don't think we would be able to find those things very easily...um...but...I tell you what! Tomorrow we will sit down together and think about what gifts we could give Jesus this Christmas" said Miriam's mom. "Maybe we could come up with something he would really like!"
